Cortland Police Make Arrests For A Needle, Suboxone, And Threat With A Knife

Cortland Police officers were called to Miller Street around noon Friday when someone thought they saw drug activity.

Matthew Thorne, who is 24, from Cortland, was found with a hypodermic instrument.

Thorne’s next court date was set for October 27.


Police say a man from Cortland put a knife to an 18-year old man’s throat and threatened to cut him just before 1 am Sunday.

Jonathan Jeffrey, who is 21, was charged with possession of a weapon and menacing.

Cortland Police say Jeffrey was sent to jail awaiting bail, and a court appearance today (Monday).


Police say a man from Marathon was arrested early Saturday morning in Cortland’s Beaudry Park for having a sheet of suboxone, a controlled substance.

Cortland Police say Elmer Irwin, 35, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and for being in the park at 3:50 am, after closing.

Irwin is due back in court October 27.
