Cortland Police Department Accepting Nominations For Annual Shop With a Cop

The City of Cortland Police Department will be teaming up again with Walmart in Cortlandville, the Cortland Elks Lodge, and several other local businesses and organizations for their annual Shop with a Cop.

Right now, the Cortland Police Department is asking residents if they know of a family that is experiencing financial hardship, a health crisis, or a loss in the family. Nominations are now being accepted for the event, which the police department says will be held in the beginning of December. All nominees must live in the City of Cortland. A nomination form may be found HERE.

Cortland Police says nominations will only be accepted by completing the form. If the child has been selected in the past, the department asks you not to nominate them again.

“Each child selected will be given a specific amount of money to shop with a City of Cortland Police Officer. The child will be expected to also purchase a gift, or gifts for someone else in their family, besides buying themselves something. A pizza party will also take place on the day of the event.”

Cortland Police say.

The deadline to submit a nomination is November 16th. Anyone with questions is asked to contact Sergeant Patrick O’Donnell via email at podonnell@Cortland.org.
