With college students back in Cortland this past weekend, Cortland Police once again conducted a sting to catch students using fake ID’s at local bars.
City Police working with investigators from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles busted 28 people Friday over a three hour period for using fake ID’s to get into local bars.
26 of those arrested were SUNY Cortland students.
The students arrested were issued appearance tickets and the ID’s were confiscated. Police say the DMV plans to suspend the license holders.
In addition to targeting bars, Cortland Police have also cracked down on underage drinking at off-campus housing. They say they are already planning to conduct on-going undercover operations this coming spring.
