Cortland Police Arrests Include Wanted Wednesday Fugitive

A man from Cortland accused of leaving his eight-month-old child alone for more than 20 minutes was arrested Thursday afternoon.

Cortland Police identify the man as Timothy Rathbun, who is 35.

The timing was bad as Child Protective workers were visiting while Rathbun was out.

The child was removed and Rathbun’s due in court for endangering the Welfare of a Child on November 1.


A man from Cortland is accused of stealing a car on October 2 and using the debit card found in the vehicle.

Brendon Morrison, who is 33, was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and Grand Larceny.

Cortland Police found the car the day it was stolen and caught up to Morrison around 5 pm Thursday evening.

Cortland Police report another Warrant Wednesday Arrest.

On Saturday afternoon, Jesse James Miller was arrested at an apartment on Park Street.

He was wanted for Criminal Contempt for failing to pay the fines on his conviction for Resisting Arrest and for failing to pay a fine from Family Court.

Police say Miller was arraigned in County Family Court and sent to the Cortland County Jail.
