Cortland Police Arrest Woman After Stolen Checkbook Investigation
Back on May 9th, Cortland Police received a report of a forged check and opened an investigation into the forgery. CPD says a woman reported her checkbook had gone missing and learned a forged check was cashed. The forged check then caused an overdraft in the woman’s account.
Cortland Police say the investigation found 41 year old Amy Lynn Cross as the suspect of the forgery. Officers located and arrested Cross on September 17th. She was charged with Forgery in the 2nd, Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd, both Felonies, Petit Larceny, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th, both Misdemeanors.
She was processed and later released on appearance tickets. Cross is due in Cortland City Court early next month.
