Back on Saturday, February 24th around 1:20 in the morning, Cortland Police responded to 183 Groton Ave. for a weapons complaint. The suspect in the weapons complaint had fled the scene prior to police arrival.

A victim in the case, a 33 year old woman, told officers 32 year old Artis L. Young slammed her against the ground and then put a handgun to her head while threatening her. Cortland Police were able to obtain a warrant for Youngs arrest.

On March 5th, just after 3 in the afternoon, Young was found at the Byrne Dairy on Port Watson Street in the City of Cortland and arrested. As officers searched Young, he was found to have a BB pistol in his possession. Cortland Police told X101 News they did not know if the BB pistol found was the gun involved in the incident in February. He is facing charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd, a Felony, and Menacing in the 2nd, a Misdemeanor.

Young was arraigned and then remanded to Cortland County Jail. He is to appear in Cortland City Court at a later date.
