Cortland Police Arrest Man After Reported Burglary at Home

Back on Wednesday, February 19th around 11:40 at night, Cortland Police responded to a reported burglary on North Main Street in the City of Cortland. Officers responding learned there was a male inside the house without permission.

After officers arrived at the house, they found the house in disarray. Cortland Police say food and other items were found scattered around. Cortland Police also learned the suspect was still inside the house and that the suspect had damaged property.

Officers found the suspect, identified as 37 year old Monti J. Mann, in the kitchen. Mann identified himself with a false identification; he would eventually admit his true identity after officers were able to determine the identity he provided was false.

Mann was found to have an active warrant for his arrest for Grand Larceny out of Greenville, NY.

Officers arrested and charged Mann with Burglary in the 2nd, a Felony, Criminal Mischief in the 4th, Criminal Tampering in the 3rd, and False Personation, all Misdemeanors. Cortland Police say Mann also faces a parole violation warrant.

He was transported to the Cortland Police Department and later arraigned and sent to Cortland County Jail. Mann is due in Cortland City Court at a later date.
