Just before 5 o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, December 8th, both the City of Cortland Fire Department and Police Department responded to 29 Charles Street in the City of Cortland for a fire alarm activation.

On arrival, emergency crews found no fire or any other type of emergency at the residence. An investigation into the active alarm found it to be a firebox which was manually pulled. The investigation determined 30 year old Robin M. Rumpff had pulled the alarm for no reason.

He was arrested and charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident, a Felony. Rumpff was issued an appearance ticket and is due in Cortland City Court at a later date.
