Cortland Officers Honored For Work During Hampton Inn Standoff Last May

Two Cortland Police Officers were recognized publicly Monday night (April 29) at the annual CNY Chiefs of Police Award Ceremony, held this year at the Drumlins Country Club in Dewitt.

City Police Detective Sergeant Daniel Johnson and Patrol Officer Chadd Hines were awarded for their exemplary work during the hostage situation involving a suicidal subject that took place at the Hampton Inn last May.

Detective Sergeant Johnson was the initial and primary hostage negotiator during the entire incident and Officer Hines successfully coordinated the crucial communications between multiple agencies on that hectic day.

Both were presented with Officer Commendation awards Monday night.
