The SUNY Cortland men’s soccer team was recently voted the preseason No. 1 in the SUNYAC conference in a poll of the conference’s coaches.
The Red Dragons are after their 19th overall SUNYAC title this season, which would be the second under current head coach Steve Axtell.
The Red Dragons finished last season ranked No. 1 with a final conference record of 8-1-0.
They lost to Brockport in the SUNYAC championship game (2-0), but received an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament.
Cortland defeated Newbury College, 3-1, and Elizabethtown, 5-2, before ending their playoff run in the third round in a nail-biting loss to Messiah, 3-2.
