Cortland Man Violates Order of Protection Several Times

Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported violation of an order of protection just before 5 o’clock on Wednesday, March 13th at a residence on Saunders Road in Cortlandville.


During the investigation, officers were able to determine the suspect, identified as 45 year old Dennis M. Murray Jr. of Cortland, had violated a full stay away order of protection by contacting the victim several times over the course of several days. The Sheriff’s Office also says Murray made contact with the victim through a third party, also a violation of the order of protection. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Monday, March 18th, officers located and arrested Murray. He faces 6 counts of Criminal Contempt in the 2nd, a Misdemeanor. He was taken to the Cortland County Jail for processing and later processed via the Centralized Arraignment Process where he was released on his own recognizance.

Murray is due in Cortlandville Town Court next month.
