On Monday, July 31st, officers from the City of Cortland Police department responded to a domestic incident at an apartment at Cortland Park Apartments in the City of Cortland.
The incident involved 26 year old Alexander G. Donenko of Cortland, and a relative of his. It was reported Donenko had smashed property in the apartment. He then stole a vehicle and threatened to kill the relative unless they went to an ATM and took money out to give him.
After Donenko received the cash, he left the area in the stolen vehicle. Officer’s were able to locate him at the Byrne Dairy on Port Watson Street. He was taken into custody without incident.
Officers charged Donenko with Robbery in the 3rd, Grand Larceny in the 4th, both Felonies, and Criminal Mischief in the 4th, a Misdemeanor. He was arraigned and sent to Cortland County Jail on $1,000 bail and $5,000 bond. Donenko is due to appear in Cortland City Court tomorrow.
