Cortland Man Found in Possession of Drugs

Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Salvation Army at 138 Main Street in the City of Cortland back on December 31st just before midnight. Officers from the Sheriff’s Office learned a person was at the salvation army who had an active arrest warrant.


The wanted person was identified as 24 year old David A. West of Cortland. Officers arrested West and as he was being taken into custody, police found West to be in possession of drugs.

He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th and taken to the Sheriff’s Office to wait for his arraignment on his arrest warrant. West was given an appearance ticket for the controlled substance charge. West is due to appear in Cortland City Court for that charge next week.
