The City of Cortland Police Department have made an arrest of a Cortland man of a reported rape that had occurred between September 10th and 20th of last year at an address on Clinton Ave. in the City of Cortland.
Officers arrested 24 year old Jordan C. Smith of Cortland, NY on Friday, May 5th, and charged him with Rape in the 1st degree, Rape in the 3rd degree, both Felonies, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Misdemeanor.
The investigation found that Smith engaged in sexual intercourse with a female who was less than 16 years of age and incapable of consent due to her being under the influence of drugs.
Smith was taken in through a warrant issued for his arrest. He was arraigned in Cortland City Court and then remanded to Cortland County Jail. He is due back in court at an undetermined date at this time in Cortland County Court.
