A traffic stop was conducted by an officer from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, May 8th, around 11:40 pm on Washington Street in the Town of Virgil.
The vehicle was stopped for multiple traffic violations including: speeding, and failing to keep right. As the officer interviewed the driver, identified as 35 year old Ravinder Singh of Cortland, the officer noticed Singh was impaired.
Through a further investigation, it was found Singh was driving while intoxicated and he was previously convicted of driving while intoxicated within the last 10 years.
Singh was arrested and charged with DWI, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 1st, both Felonies, and numerous Infractions including: Speed in Zone, Fail to Keep Right, Refusal of Breath Test, Consumption of Alcohol in Motor Vehicle, Unlicensed Operator, and Using Other License.
He was transported to the Sheriff’s Office where he was processed and arraigned via the Centralized Arraignment Process and later released on his own recognizance. Singh is due to reappear in Town of Virgil Court later this month.
