Cortland Man Charged After Dog Found With Untreated Skin Disorder

Local News

A Cortland man was arrested Wednesday (August 7) for failure to provide necessary veterinary care after SPCA investigators found his dog with an untreated skin disorder.

Investigators with the Cortland County SPCA Law Enforcement division were called to a Pine Street residence by a city official who was there on a separate matter and was concerned with the dog’s condition.

Thirty-eight-year-old Adam Rundell, of Grant Street, soon arrived and claimed ownership of the canine.

He was then charged with a class A misdemeanor related to animal cruelty and given an appearance ticket for Cortland city court on August 26.

The dog was taken to a local veterinarian for initial exam and then transferred to Cornell Companion Animal Hospital for treatment due to its severe condition. Authorities say it will need to be treated for at least 4-6 weeks.
