Cortland City police on Wednesday arrested 32-year-old Brandon McGregor, of Tompkins Street, after he was found walking with what appeared to be a long-gun wrapped in a blanket.
An investigator approached and questioned McGregor, who claimed it was a fishing pole he was carrying but did allow the officer to conduct a search.
The item was discovered to be a high-powered pellet rifle that was stolen last month during a burglary on Yates Place in the city.
McGregor was then brought to CPD for an interview, where he revealed the location of additional items he took during that burglary.
He was charged with a felony and two misdemeanors for 3rd-degree Burglary (F), Petit Larceny (M) and Criminal possession of stolen property (M).
Following arraignment, McGregor was scheduled to appear in City Court on July 16
