On Monday, October 3rd a City of Cortland Police Detective was conducting surveillance on an unrelated case in the area of the former Family Video and Seven Eleven stores located on North Main St. in the City of Cortland.
While surveilling, the detective noticed two individuals go down an alleyway to the rear of the Family Video building. During the investigation the detective spotted one of the suspects Joseph C. Zoll holding a bag of heroin up in his hands.
He was then arrested and found to be in possession of numerous bags of heroin and meth. Zoll was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, 2 counts, a misdemeanor.
He was later released on appearance tickets.
The City of Cortland Police notes this area has been receiving numerous complaints and the police department has been patrolling the area and will continue to do so and is asking residents if they see anything suspicious to call 911 and report it.
