A Cortland man was arrested on Friday (March 15) for driving intoxicated with an 11-year-old boy in the car, as well as attempting to involve him in a drug cover-up while being arrested.
Cortland Police say they pulled over 29-year-old Joseph Harvey of Homer Avenue in Cortland about 11:45 Friday night for a headlight out and illegal tints. Harvey was found to be intoxicated and Police say the boy was to be taken to his grandparents for care.
As Harvey was being taken in and his car towed, he handed the 11-year-old a backpack from the car to take with him. Police ultimately searched the bag and found over 3 ounces of marijuana, a scale and an airsoft pistol.
Harvey’s set to appear in City court for the incident on March 27.
