Cortland Man Arrested For Child Porn Charges – Inappropriately Touched a Child Under 11
New York State Police at Homer say they have arrested 26 year old Calvin J. Verny-Rasmussen of Cortland following an investigation for crimes involving children. The investigation was originally opened back in September following a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
The tip indicted that child sexual abuse was being shared online by Verny-Rasmussen. New York State Police Troop C Computer Crimes Unit along with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation further found in addition to Verny-Rasmussen promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation, he also inappropriately touched a child under 11 years old.
Verny-Rasmussen was arrested on Thursday, July 3rd by State Police. He is facing charges of Sexual Abuse in the 1st, Promoting Sexual Performance of a Child, Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, all Felonies, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Misdemeanor.
He was processed at the State Police Barracks in Homer and then transported to the Cortland County Jail for Centralized Arraignment. Verny-Rasmussen was remanded to jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. As of Monday afternoon, he remains in custody at the Cortland County Jail.
