Cortland Man Arrested Again for Criminal Contempt

A Cortland man has been arrested on Criminal Contempt in the 1st degree, a Felony, by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office on March 31st.



Officers arrested 33 year old Michael C. Palmer of Cortland, who officers say violated an order of protection after he attempted to contact the protected party. Doing so violated the full stay away Order of Protection.

The complaint of Palmer reaching out to the protected party came a few days before his arrest on March 29th, a warrant was issued for Palmer after officers were able to determine it was him trying to make contact with the protected party.

He was arrested two days later on the 31st and transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office where he was processed, arraigned and remanded to the Cortland County Jail. Palmer was remanded in lieu of $500 cash or $2,500 bond. He is expected to appear in Freetown Town Court later this month.
