Cortland Legislature Votes to Absolve Tipping Fees for APEX Project

The Cortland County Legislature voted Thursday to absolve the Cortland County Industrial Development Agency of over $381,000 in tipping fees.

The agency incurred the debt while cleaning up the former APEX tool property in the City of Cortland, which officials say had become an eyesore after the former owners demolished the site for scrap. The Legislature further resolved that over $4600 in overtime fee costs must be paid back to Cortland County by the Industrial Development Agency.

Additionally, pending the development of the site, the County will be paid any amount received over the amount due to others with agreements already arranged, up to the amount of the forgiven tipping fees.
