Cortland County police agencies this Halloween are teaming up with the US Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to remind you that Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving.
Officials say it’s important to have a sober ride home planned should you decide to drink on Halloween night. Drivers are also told to be extra cautious during this time as more pedestrians are out at night enjoying the Halloween festivities.
The impaired driving crackdown (running the 29th thru the 31st) is being done as Halloween night can be especially dangerous on the nation’s roads. Between 2016 and 2020, there were 129 drink driving fatalities on that evening alone.
