Cortland High School will now have slightly longer school days, beginning this upcoming academic year.
In a letter sent out to parents this week, school officials said the day will now officially begin at 7:30 AM and end at 2:30 PM. Homeroom previously started around 7:55 AM and the day ended at 2:28 PM.
The changes add only minutes to the day, but accumulate annually to the state minimum of 990 instructional hours per 180-day academic year.
Breakfast will now begin at around 7 AM. Those who are late to school due to appointments and unforeseen circumstances will still be allowed to eat breakfast before reporting to homeroom or class.
