Cortland Floorcraft Burns – 2nd Alarm Fire Brings Multiple Fire Departments

Around 9:05 Thursday evening, a call from a passerby came into 9-1-1 dispatch of a reported structure fire at Cortland Floorcraft at 4357 North Homer Ave. in Cortlandville.


Arriving units confirmed an active structure fire with heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. A second alarm was called for additional manpower and equipment to battle the flames.

Fire departments from Cortlandville, Homer, Marathon and Dryden responded. McLean Fire was called in for their rehab trailer. Additional departments including Virgil and Killawog provided standby coverage.

Firefighters were able to have the fire knocked out in about an hour from the initial time of call. TLC Ambulance, State Police and the Cortland County Sheriff provided additional assistance.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, State Fire is investigating. No injuries were reported.
