Cortland Fire Knocks Down Bedroom Fire Quickly on Banks Street in City

Around 10 in the morning on Wednesday, June 19th, Cortland Fire was dispatched to 2 Banks Street in the City of Cortland for a reported structure fire. Cortland County Dispatch reported of a fire located inside the bedroom on the second floor of the home.

Cortland Fire responded quickly to the scene. Everyone inside the house was able to evacuate safely. Firefighters entered the building and confirmed a fire in the bedroom. The fire was able to be extinguished with two water cans by firefighters. A moderate smoke condition was visible on scene. Cortland Fire Chief, Wayne Friedman told X101 News an entrance to the attic space was located in the room where the fire was which led to smoke in the attic area. No fire extension was found by firefighters.

No injuries were reported on scene. Firefighters remained on scene to vent out the building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
