Cortland Enlarged City School District Requesting Tax Levy Override; Hosting Community Information Meetings

The City of Cortland Enlarged City School District will be hosting five community information meetings. The meetings are in regards to the district requesting a tax levy override to help balance next year’s 2023-2024 district budget.



The first meetings will be held this Thursday, May 4th, at multiple locations throughout Cortland. Those locations include:

  • 10am – Cortland Free Library, Periodical Room
  • 11:30am – Raymond G. Thorpe Municipal Building in Cortlandville
  • 4pm – Cortland Community Center
  • 6pm – Greek Peak in Virgil

The next community information meeting will be on Monday, May 8th at the Cortland Free Library at 5pm. The following day at 6pm, there will be the district’s annual budget hearing at the Jr/Sr High School Auditorium followed at 6:30pm the regularly scheduled BOE meeting.

Tuesday, May 16th, from 12pm to 9pm, will be the budget vote at three polling locations: City of Cortland – 1 Valley View Drive, Kaufman Center, Cortlandville – 3587 Terrace Road, Municipal Garage, and Virgil – 1176 Church Street, Town Hall. All absentee ballots must be received by the district clerk at the Kaufman Center by 4pm that day.
