In the State Supreme Court, the Honorable Lyle E. Frank, had determined there was no justiciable controversy before the court that Cortland County does not have an Executive Order in place and made a note of “that no attempt to house migrants within [Cortland] County has been made and rebuffed.”

“Our Executive Order was a measure to ensure that the relocation of migrants is conducted in a manner that is sustainable and supportive to both the migrants and our local residents.” Stated Cortland County Legislative Chair Kevin Fitch in a statement.

In a press release the county stated they remain committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment and also ensuring the welfare of all its residents. Cortland County looks to continue their engagement in constructive dialogue when addressing immigration-related matters.
