State labor department November unemployment statistics show the Cortland County rate was 5.2%, up 0.4% from October.
Year to year, the rate is pretty much flat, compared to 5.3% in November 2015.
The state says 1,300 county residents were unemployed in November, which is about the same as a year ago. The number of workers in Cortland County totaled 22,700, up about 100 from last year.
The federal Bureau of Labor Statistics says 12 counties in New York State averaged wages of more than $950 per week. Ten counties, including Cortland, had average incomes less than $749.
In 2015, New York women who were full-time wage and salary workers had median usual weekly earnings of $816, or 86.9% of the $939 median usual weekly earnings for their male counterparts, according to information released Wednesday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Chief Regional Economist Martin Kohli noted that the women’s to men’s earnings ratio in New York increased 2.3% from the previous year.
Nationwide, women earned $726 per week, or 81.1% of the $895 median for men.
