Cortland County SPCA Names Two Executive Directors

Two have been named Co-Executive Directors for the Cortland County SPCA. The decision comes after a review by the organization’s Board of Directors. Appointed to Co-Executive Directors are Tiffany Ackerman and William Carr. Ackerman will serve as the Executive Director of Shelter Operations and Carr the Executive Director of Law Enforcement.

The SPCA says Ackerman has been with the Cortland County SPCA for 12 years and showed her commitment in various roles including: Assistant Shelter Manager, Dog Care Coordinator, and Office and Kennel Staff. Her work has also contributed to programs such as the low-cost Spay/Neuter program, Adoption and Foster Initiatives. Ackerman has also played a pivotal role, the SPCA said in a release, in shaping procedures and best practices.

Carr first began with the Law Enforcement Division of the SPCA back in 2002 as a volunteer. He brought in experience from working as an auxiliary police officer and security supervisor in Onondaga County. Within the same year of him beginning at the SPCA, Carr was hired officially. The SPCA plays an important role in the establishment of the Law Enforcement Department and contributes his expertise in various roles throughout the organization. Those roles include enforcing the state’s animal cruelty laws to educate staff and law enforcement.

With the announcement of the first ever Co-Executive Directors, both Ackerman and Carr will share a unified vision for the SPCA’s mission, the SPCA said in a release.
