Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office have been made aware of a text message being distributed marketing the sale of “Cortland County Sheriff’s Office T-Shirts.” The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office is not offering t-shirts or other any other items for sale and has not authorized anyone to sell shirts with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office name or badge at this time.
Please be cautious when receiving phone calls or text messages from unfamiliar numbers or people. Do not give away any personal information over the phone or internet. It is clear scammers are posing as well-known businesses and people.
