The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office has announced the office will be providing free child IDs at the Maple Festival in Marathon this weekend as part of their Operation Safe Child.
The Sheriff’s Office will be at the festival on Saturday from 9am to 5pm and then Sunday from 9am to 4pm. Officers will be located inside the Marathon High School.
Created in 2005, Operation Safe Child was created to promote child safety. The program is a partnership between the New York State Sheriffs’ Association, New York State Association of Chiefs of Police, New York State Police and the New York City Police Department, the DCJS Missing and Exploited Children Clearinghouse.
