The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office is providing an update on the recent Amber Alert for two children. Both children have been found safe and the alert was canceled.
The Sheriff’s Office began to investigate a missing persons complaint around 8pm on Monday, June 12th involving a 2 and 3 year old. Reports given to officers were that the children were with their father, Anthony M. Bowman Jr. and were last seen Sunday evening in the area of North Main Street in Cortland.
As the investigation continued, investigators spoke with witnesses and family members and became concerned the children may be in imminent danger. An Amber Alert was then issued by the Sheriff’s Office early Tuesday morning.
Both children were eventually located safely at a family member’s home after officers from the Syracuse Police Department found Bowman Jr. vehicle parked in the area in the City of Syracuse. Bowman Jr. was also located by police.
The investigation remains ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.
