Republican candidate for the 52nd New York State Senate District Mike Sigler has been endorsed by Cortland County Sheriff Mark Helms. The 52nd Senate District covers all of Cortland and Tompkins Counties and a majority of Broome County, including Binghamton. Sigler has already earned the endorsement of Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar.

“Sheriff Helms, members of the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and law enforcement professionals everywhere risk their lives every day to serve and protect us,” said Sigler. “As a County Legislator, I’ve fought to provide them with tools and resources at the local level. When elected as our new State Senator, I’ll bring that same fight to Albany to ensure that we stop the madness of prioritizing criminals over crime victims.”

Sigler faces incumbent Democrat Lea Webb this November. Webb is running for reelection for a second term in the 52nd District.

“I urge all residents of the 52nd Senate District to join [Mark Helms] in supporting Mike Sigler for State Senate because the best path toward safer communities is through leadership committed that partners with our men and women of law enforcement rather than working against them.”

Sheriff Helms said in a letter of endorsement.

The 2024 General Election is slated for Tuesday, November 5. Early Voting will take place from October 26 to November 3. Absentee Ballot voting will also be available.
