On Saturday March 5th around 2:30 in the morning a Cortland County Sheriff Deputy was on patrol in the area of Telephone Road Ext and on Route 26 in the Town of Cincinnatus.
The deputy then attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle for traffic infractions in the area. The driver of the vehicle failed to comply with the officer and proceeded to flee from the officer in the vehicle.
Failure to comply concluded when the operator of the vehicle attempted to evade the office on a seasonal road and then became stuck in the snow.
Through the investigation, officers discovered the operator of the vehicle Ryan R. Durkee was operating with a suspended driver’s license and the passenger in the vehicle, Jeremy J. Rice, was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.
Durkee and Rice were both arrested and transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office where they were processed and then issued appearance tickets.
Rice was released on his own recognizance while Durkee was handed over to the New York State Police for outstanding bench warrants from a different incident.
Both men are due to appear in the Town of Cincinnatus Court on April 6th, at 7pm.
