There is a new K-9 team in the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Mark Helms announced Officer Dalton Strickland and K-9 Dex, who is a one year Belgian Malinois from the Czech Republic, as the newest team.
Both Officer Strickland and K-9 Dex recently completed their 300 hour K-9 training course at Shallow Creek Kennels in Sharpsville, PA. The duo is also now certified by NYS and the North American Police Work Dog Association for tracking, article search, narcotics detection, apprehension and handler protection.
