For the month of July, Cortland County has seen another increase in sales tax revenue. In July of this year the county reported $3.1 million dollars in sales tax revenue, which is an 8.5% increase from July of last year. Overall the state increased 11.9% in the month of July.

“Statewide local sales tax collections growth continued to be strong in July, despite the participation of many counties in the gas tax holiday,” New York Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli said. “However, it is important that local officials continue to monitor economic factors that impact overall sales tax revenues.”

For year to date Cortland County is up 5.1% with $22 million dollars in sales tax revenue. Monthly sales tax distributions made to counties and tax-imposing cities are based on estimates by the Department of Taxation and Finance.
