The New York State Department of Labor has released their preliminary statistics for July 2023 on area unemployment rates. Overall, the state’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.9% for the month of July, with Cortland County’s unemployment rate at 3.4%.
When compared to this time last year, Cortland County has seen an increase of 1,100 in those employed. Currently those employed in the county stands at 22,000, this time last year in July of 2022, the county had 20,900 employed and an unemployment rate of 4%.
The County remains to see a rebound in job creation, and is expected to continue to increase with iSpice continuing their work renovating the former Voyant Beauty Facility on Court Street.
