Cortland County Seeking Applicants For Centro Board Membership
Cortland County says they are seeking a “civic-minded” individual who would be nominated for a board member position at Centro. The county says this opportunity will be a vital role in shaping public transportation within the county. Centro plans to take over bus service within the county from First Transit on April 1st of this year.
The board position would be an unpaid position with a term of 7 years. Meetings will take place monthly in Syracuse at 200 Cortland Ave. on Fridays anytime between the hours of 8:30am and 1pm. Cortland County says the board member will also have additional responsibilities of meeting regularly with the county Mobility Manager, attending quarterly meetings with the Cortland County Transportation Advisory Committee, and engaging in strategic planning and advocacy for accessible transit.
All board members are appointed by Governor Hochul and must complete a background check. The county says an ideal candidate would bring strategic insight, advocacy experience, and have an understanding of the critical role of public transportation within the county.
All applicants must submit their application by March 5th.
