New cases slowed dramatically this week in Cortland County, which over the past two days reported the smallest single-day increases since September 28.
Yesterday, six new positives were confirmed that now make a total of 110 active active cases.
Three people are hospitalized and 822 others are being monitored by the health department.
A weekend rapid testing initiative resulted in 97% of the over 1,800 screenings administered turning back negative.
Just to the north — Onondaga County reported a new record-high 70 cases yesterday, the most in a single day there since the pandemic began.
Meanwhile, Governor Cuomo announced yesterday that county and city governments can now impose mask mandates on local school districts.
The state’s initial reopening guidance in the spring previously left that up to each individual district.
Many already require masks in all school buildings.
