In a press release sent out just last night (October 2), the Cortland County Legislature released the name of the man expected to be sworn in as the next County Administrator in tonight’s (October 3) special legislative session.
Daniel Degear was unanimously endorsed by county leaders Monday (October 1) morning during a joint meeting of the Legislature’s Budget and Finance and Personnel committees.
Degear is currently the Town of DeRuyter Supervisor and the Vice-Chair of the Madison County Board of Supervisors.
His appointment now heads for approval at a special session of the Legislature tonight, which is scheduled for 7:00 in the legislative chambers at the county office building.
Also on the agenda for tonight’s meeting is the appointment of a new chair of the Legislature.
Charles Sudbrink stepped down as chairman last week after being named the county’s new Superintendent of Highways.
Republican majority leader Kevin Whitney serves as the acting chair until a permanent replacement is selected, which is expected to happen tonight.
