Cortland County Historical Society Purchases Former Church in Cortland

The Cortland County Historical Society has announced they have purchased the former Free Methodist Church at 9 Grace Street in Cortland. The space, which includes an adjacent parking lot, will be used for history lectures, workshops, and fundraising activities, the Historical Society says.

The building will additionally house the Past Time Memory Preservation Lab. According to the Historical Society, the lab will offer community members a space where they may digitize photos and documents or take part in an oral history interview with staff.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be expanding educational opportunities for our community, and it seems fitting for this important milestone to occur during our centennial year. There will be ways for you to help with this new endeavor, so please keep your eye out for upcoming opportunities to support our steps into a new century of service.” The Historical Society said in a release.

An open house is planned for the near future for the community, the Historical Society says.
