The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, Correctional Division is seeking to fill 17 vacancies within its department. Application filing date is open until tomorrow, May 12th at 4:30pm.
Responsibility in being a correctional officer includes the enforcement of rules and regulations governing the custody, security, conduct, discipline, safety and general well being of inmates in the correctional facility. Correctional officers will also be involved in considerable inmate contact and supervision in a work, recreation and/or learning environment.
Those who are interested in applying must have their applications received in the Personnel/Civil Service Office. Exam fees are currently waived.
Minimum qualifications is to have graduated from high school or in possession of a high school equivalency diploma. A copy of the diploma or equivalent must be submitted with the application. A special requirement of a valid NY driver’s license is required to the vehicles operated by the department.
The online exam questionnaire submission period will take place between June 1 to the 30th with additional information and instructions being mailed to those applicants approved. The online questionnaire will be the examination.
