Cortland County Health Department Warns of LATCH Bar Recall in Multiple Vehicles

The Cortland County Health Department is alerting the public to a recent recall notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on specific Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles.

The recall involves the rear-seat LATCH anchorage bars used to secure car seats, which may have an issue with excessive powder coating making it challenging to install car seats correctly. LATCH, which stands for lower anchors and tethers for children, is an alternative attachment system to using seat belts to install car seats. It’s vital to take notice of the recall if you own a Chevrolet Equinox or GMC Terrain manufactured between 2020 and 2023.

Until an affected vehicle can be taken to a local dealer for inspection and repair if necessary, its recommended to use rear seat belts to install car seats until anchorage bars can be fixed. That way the safety of your child is ensured while driving.
