Cortland County DA – Ithaca Man Convicted in Weapons Possession Case

Cortland County District Attorney Patrick Perfetti announced on Monday that Nathan Williams, 30, of Ithaca has entered into a guilty plea for two charges.

Williams was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, as well as Driving While Intoxicated. He refused to submit to chemical testing in Cortland County Court. His sentencing will begin October 8th, 2024, and it is anticipated he will face an indeterminate number of years in prison.

“Mr. Williams was discovered by State Troopers in a vehicle that was off the road on I-81,” said D.A. Perfetti. “Upon further investigation, Mr. Williams was found to be in illegal possession of a firearm. This is of particular concern given that Mr. Williams is employed by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) in the field of Corrections in a youth detention facility.”

The OFCS has confirmed that they are aware of the matters surrounding Williams. The state office of the inspector General says they too have begun an investigation. D.A. Perfetti will be leading the prosecution in this case.
