Cortland County D.A. Announces Sentencing of Matthew Clark – Sentenced to 9 Years in Prison
Cortland County District Attorney Patrick Perfetti announced the sentencing for Matthew S. Clark of Truxton.
Clark, 37, was sentenced to 9 years in prison and 9 years post-release supervision for Burglary in the Second Degree, as well as two other terms from 2 to 4 years for separate convictions of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree amd Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree. Clark had 9 pending cases across 3 jurisdictions.
“The burglary offense in this matter is a classified ‘violent felony offense,’ as it is a burglary of a residence, and represents the risks that misguided legislative policies create for law enforcement and private citizens alike,” stated D.A. Perfetti. “This is an example of how cashless bail harms those it was most intended to benefit – had pre-trial detention been permitted earlier, diversion resources might have been able to be accessed for Clark.”
Assistant District Attorney, Richard C. Van Donsel was responsible for prosecuting Clark on behalf of the Office of the D.A. Clark will face additional sentencing in Willet later this month for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree.
