Cortland County D.A. Announces Sentencing for Sexual Conduct Against A Child Case
Cortland County District Attorney Patrick Perfetti announced Monday that sentencing was announced for a class B felony case in Cortland County.
Robert Schulte, 45, was sentenced to 15 years in prison and 10 years post-release supervision for Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, a violent sexual felony in the Cortland County Court.
“We recognize that there will be challenges ahead for the victim and her family in navigating the healing process, we are grateful to the Cortland County Child Advocacy Center and its Victim Advocates who are there to coordinate the needed assistance for the victim” stated CADA Weyant. “This prosecution was successful because the victim reported the crime and the victim was courageous in coming forward to testify.”
Weyant, the D.A. Office’s Lead Special Victims Prosecutor spearheaded this case, which could have carried a 25-year sentence; Schulte accepted a plea deal that helped to reduce his sentence. Beforehand, he was facing 9 charges in 2 townships, including second-degree, endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child.
