Among his reasons are the financial benefits to the schools, municipalities and local landowners, the jobs and business the project will bring to local hotels, restaurants and shops during the construction phase and beyond, the opportunities for additional economic development in the county, the career and educational opportunities it creates for local high school students, and an overall increase in the tax base so the towns and county can better serve their residents.
