Cortland County Airport Receives State Funding For Airports

Cortland County Airport, Chase Field, is one of dozens of airports that have been named in being awarded state funding by New York Governor Kathy Hochul. The Governor announced 36 public airports throughout the state will receive $49 million designated for strategic infrastructure enhancements including safety, facilitate innovation, leverage existing resources, increase business development, and promote sustainability.

“A strong investment in our airports is a meaningful investment in our communities and the future of the Empire State,” Governor Hochul said. “Airports are gateways to communities large and small across New York State and these grants will serve as a launchpad to springboard many of these facilities into the 21st century and beyond.”

Cortland County Airport will receive $2.5 million dollars in funding which will go towards the construction of a new conventional aircraft storage hanger building. The new building will include offices and an expansion of the current vehicle parking lot.

The project funding comes from the Aviation Capital Grant Program that is then administered by the New York State Department of Transportation. The goal of the investments is to make the surrounding communities more economically competitive with neighboring states.
