Covid-19 infections continue to improve statewide, but Cortland County’s numbers took a slight turn in the wrong direction last week.
New York’s daily average positivity rate dropped to 1.00% yesterday, the lowest since October 10.
The 7-day average in all three downstate regions fell below 1.0% for the first time since September 3.
However, Cortland County’s rate is 2.5% over the past seven days. Local health officials also reported the most active cases on Thursday of last week (May 13) since mid-March at 81.
Current data shows 38% of county residents have completed their vaccine series, including 52% of adults 18 and older.
Statewide, half of all New Yorkers have at least one dose and 61.6% of adults 18 are completely vaccinated.
Appointments are still available for a one-dose Johnson & Johnson clinic scheduled for this Wednesday from 4-6 pm.
County health department and Guthrie Cortland staff will hold that event at the SUNY Cortland ice arena.
